The 10 new places in Abu Dhabi you have to eat at

Wing Zone were featured in an article on The National in an article titled, "The 10 new place in Abu Dhabi you have to eat at." The article describes 10 new restaurants that have opened in Abu Dhabi that are a must try. Read about the new Wing Zone location below or check out the full article here.

Wing Zone, Boutik Mall, Reem Island
This is not exactly the gourmet fare, and it might be a few weeks yet before their driver is on staff and they're able to deliver to hungry individuals across Abu Dhabi, but the opening of the US franchise of Wing Zone in the Boutik mall on Reem Island must be noted. It's not easy to find chicken wings, whether bone-in or boneless, that strike the perfect balance between crispy yet tender chicken and thick, sticky sauce, and Wing Zone has managed the difficult feat. They have over 12 flavors to choose from when it comes to dressing those wings, and the option to get your wings catered in platters of 100 or more. It's a different take on fast food fare: their burgers are fresh, juicy and always so delicious; their sides are varied and come with your choice of blue cheese or ranch dipping sauce and both salads and shrimp platters are on the menu. Chicken wing lovers across America are either rejoicing or snubbing McDonald's new "Mighty Wings" offering this week whereby the fast-food giant will offer the meal at more than 14,000 nationwide locations. The roll out began this week and extending through the end of November.

Mighty Wings will be sold with so-called bone-in chicken wings either as a "drummette" or a "wingette". The wings are sold in three, five and 10 pieces starting at $2.99 and come with an assortment of nine sauces including Chipotle Barbeque Sauce, Creamy Ranch Sauce, Honey Mustard Sauce, among others, McDonald's says.

As wing-centric restaurants consider the chain's impact on their food costs -- especially if large bulk purchases by McDonald's limits overall supply thereby causing chicken wings prices to spike -- another scenario could emerge if the Oak Brook, Illinois-based company decides to continue the item for a longer period or even permanently: the mass adoption of the boneless wing.

Next year, chicken wings will be 50 years old. Not that chickens didn't have wings before that, but it was in 1964 according to legend, when Teressa Bellisimo broiled a batch of wings destined for the next day's stock pot and created today's universal appetizer - Buffalo wings, named because her Anchor Bar was in Buffalo, N.Y.

In the ensuing half-century, wings have gone from the least-desirable piece of poultry to the most; on the wholesale market, wings typically are more expensive than any other piece of chicken except boneless and skinless breasts, especially around the Super Bowl - when we eat more than a billion wings, or roughly 100 million pounds, according to the National Chicken Council.

Nearly every restaurant regardless of its primary cuisine typically has wings - in recent years the "Buffalo" has been dropped. And their varied flavors always are the key.

Some places specialize in wings; among them, Wing Zone, which has its roots in Gainesville where a couple of University of Florida fraternity guys - Matt Friedman and Adam Scott - experimented with cooking wings in their house kitchen and sold the results to other students as a way to beat late-night munchies.

They called themselves "flavorholics," and their flavors are repeat winners at the National Buffalo Wing Festival in Buffalo.
