Bowie resident a real wing man in nationwide contest

John Padukiewicz is king of the wings.

He is the winner of a nationwide Wing Zone contest asking America to come up with the next wing flavor.

Bowie is home to one of several Wing Zone restaurants across the country, and Padukiewicz was “floored” when he heard he won.

“I really just entered to get the 10 free wings,” he said, explaining that anyone who submitted an original flavor idea received 10 free wings.

Wing Zone Opens Flagship Store in Smyrna

  

Wing Zone, an Atlanta-based restaurant franchise, will hold a grand opening this Saturday for its new flagship location in Smyrna.

The first 25 people who get in the door at 11 a.m. on Saturday win free food for a year, and representatives with the company say line ups usually begin the night before.

Wing Zone featured in The New York Times

Wing Zone was recently featured in the New York Times in an article titled, "Midlevel U.S. Chains Move Into Fast-Food Hungry Gulf." The article focused on US franchises opening in the Middle East featuring the success of Wing Zone in Saudi Arabia. The article details Wing Zone as one of the first midlevel brands to enter the Middle East and how the company was approached by a Saudi businessman when it was looking to expand globally. Midlevel U.S. Chains Move Into Fast-Food Hungry Gulf

DUBAI — After twelve years of running two small, organic tea shops in the New York borough of Brooklyn, Jonathan Spiel had to close one down when his landlord increased the rent in 2009. Facing that setback, Mr. Spiel decided to look into selling Tea Lounge franchises to expand into new markets and keep his business going.

The Tea Lounge’s first franchise opened this year, in Kuwait.

“When I and my family and friends first heard ‘Kuwait,’ it seemed a little out of the blue,” Mr. Spiel, the Tea Lounge’s founder, said.

Wing Zone to re-open Flagship Store in Smyrna, GA

Flavorholics rejoice; Wing Zone, the Atlanta-based restaurant franchise that offers flavor experiences for takeout and limited dine-in, will open its flagship location in Smyrna, GA on September 10, 2012. The new restaurant, located at 4490 S. Cobb Drive, features a new Wing Zone design complete with a larger dine-in area in addition to a drive-thru option for guests looking to get their flavor fix on the go.
